Acne x Silver

A new collab between Swedish brand Acne and British artist Daniel Silver.

The Swedes and the Brits have combined forces to fuse fashion and art in this latest collaboration between Swedish retailer Acne and London based artist Daniel Silver. Silver designed all of the prints for Acne's Autumn Winter 2011/2012 capsule collection, which was launched in London last night. Employing a mish-mash style, his prints prove that colour can still be used unexpectedly in fashion.

In his sculptural work, Silver has been known to draw from the western history of sculpture and culture, fusing them together in creative and striking ways. Having grown up in Israel as the son of parents who emigrated from Eastern Europe to South Africa and Zimbabwe, he has an intriguing multicultural heritage to draw from in his work, which is part of what makes this collaboration so unique and special. "For this capsule collection we used a lot of Daniel's colours and art works," says Acne founder, Jonny Johanssen. "Fabrics are slightly raw and tribal in style, Daniel has a strong relationship with Africa and so we embraced this in the collection."

What can you expect from the collaboration? A hint of painted leather, a wink of print and a lot of raw, native texture. Overall, the mood of the collection is one of freedom, lightheartedness and the beauty of the natural world. Items will be stocked exclusively at the Acne Studios store in London.
