However, after years of catering for the needs of the body, Morgans Hotel Group have decided to set a new challenge for themselves, focusing on the needs of the mind in a groundbreaking global partnership with The School Of Life.
Now in its fourth year, The School of Life run a range of programs on fulfillment and how to lead a better life. Although there's a certain underlying skepticism surrounding the industry of self-help, The School of Life are genuinely interested in directing people towards 'ideas', rather than dogmas, that exercise and expand the mind. Across the hotels they'll be offering inspiration, intellect and ideas in a workshop at low rates.
Open the 'minibar', and Instead of ten dollar Mars Bars long-life milk you'll find far more inspiring alternatives, such as conversation starters - boxes full of questions, quotations and provocations designed to spark conversation. There's also a volume of columns written by The School of Life's faculty and friends, reading prescriptions to send you into moods of relaxation of seduction and a 'dreams and fears' notebook. During the partnership The School of Life will also host a series of talks in hotels spanning romance, travel, conversation and reading, as well as curate Semi-Automatic in the St Martins Lane hotel lobby, which will offer products at reduced prices including their limited edition design objects and books, gift vouchers and the opportunity to win dinner with Alain De Botton.
