Ann Demeulemeester Leaves Her Label

The designer exists her namesake label.

Having headed up her eponymous label for the last 26 years, Ann Demeulemeester is saying goodbye to her fashion house, with unconfirmed reports of a million fashion goths hanging their head and crying black tears in response. The Antwerp-based designer has been synonymous with dark, avant garde looks that many love but only few dare to try — but fear not! The brand is in good hands and will continue to supply to the world with black, black goodness.

In an internal email to her staff, Ann said "Ann Demeulemeester is an adult brand now with its own identity and legacy that is able to continue growing without me. I trust the company and the people that worked hard with me. We prepared this step together and they feel ready to bring the brand further into the future.” The label will be showing its men's and women's collections together in Paris on 27 January 2014.
