Art Basel Miami
SXSW by the sea. With art.
DAVID BENJAMIN SHERRY - HOW COULD I HAVE EVER LOST YOU (2010)
Miami Beach is hosting the art equivalent of SXSW, with more gallery exhibitions and arty fun than you can poke a highbrow stick at. Art Basel will represent more than 2000 artists (with a particular focus on diverse new talent) with an exclusive selection from around 250 leading art galleries from across the globe. Prepare for art overload (in a good way!) with displays from ART ASIA, New Image Art of West Hollywood and even Kate Moss.
GLEN LUCHFORD - TIMES SQUARE, 1994
If you try hard enough you might even catch a glimpse of the Invisible Man (Liu Bolin) - he's made an impressive dent on the Asian art scene by painting himself against complex backgrounds.
Other featured exhibitions include a Berlin-themed evening curated by German magazine 032c, the New Dealers Art Alliance (NADA) Fair and Pulse Contemporary Art Fair - the leading US art fair dedicated solely to contemporary art.
Art Basel Miami will have art lovers, curators and artists aflutter with its boundless display of all that's up and coming in the art world. And when they want to let their hair down, the soiree hosted by Parisian graffiti artist/enfant terrible Andre Saraiva all week at the Delano Hotel's Florida Room will surely fit the bill.
