Backstage: Dion Lee, TOME, Zimmerman & A Détacher @ NYFW

Plus our mid-week highlights via Zimmerman, Eckhaus Latta, Hood By Air and more.

Bless you, Australian designers. While Oyster's been busy launching our 20th Anniversary 'Down Under' issue (out now!), local kid Dion Lee, expats TOME, and Zimmerman have been killing it at NYFW.

It's only halfway through the week and we've already been bowled over by the lush colours and Jeffrey Smart-referencing looks at Dion's SS15 show, been (again) impressed at Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo's 'independent woman' inspirations.

Meanwhile, Nicky Zimmerman gave us an exclusive look at her SS15 show's soundtrack and like the clothes themselves, it's full of 70s feminine, occult flavour. Behold:

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - 'Fortune Teller'

Felicity Groom - 'Higher Higher Taller Taller'

La Femme - 'Antitaxi'

Fleetwood Mac - 'Black Magic Woman'

"But what of the non-locals, you nationalistic pigs?!" You might say. But don't worry, we have some favourite non-Australian mid-week moments too. Take Eckhaus Latta.

The Oyster #103-featured duo painted knee-high socks on their models (like Michael Bailey Gates and India Menuez), propped them up in 'stacked' sneakers and sent them down the runway to a sound of a children's choir. #moment

Elsewhere, Hood By Air's Shayne Oliver presented what might be his most well-developed and hot-loping collection to date. As seen on kids like Boy Child, pictured here walking a giant dog. Another moment!

A Détacher win best beauty looks of NYFW (so far). See them, and more from the aforementioned designers in the gallery above! Alternatively, just see Miley Cyrus get turnt at the Alexander Wang party here.
