Balenciaga's New Creative Director Is Vetements' Demna Gvasalia

Bye Wang.
All of the rumours of Balenciaga's Wang replacement can hush now. The label has finally named its new creative director, and it is Demna Gvasalia – the head designer for excellent, new-ish French label Vetements.

Balenciaga's CEO/president Isabelle Guichot spoke to WWD about the switch, "We really wanted somebody that has a vision, and someone capable of reshuffling the cards. I was really amazed by his ability to develop an approach to the brand that was really new and that was really his own… what should be the attitude, what should be the silhouette, what should be the volumes."

Demna will absolutely continue his work at Vetements, and is due to present his first show for Balenciaga in March.
