Banksy Painted A Cat On A Wall In Gaza To Get The Internet's Attention [Watch]

The locals like it so much they never leave.

Love looking at pictures of kittens on the internet? Of course you do. That's why Banksy's latest work — emblazoned on a crumbling wall amidst Gaza's ruined streets — is of a big-eyed kitten wearing a bow. The anonymous street artist has released three new works and a mini documentary this week, all created within the war-torn region. Of the cat piece, Banksy writes, "A local man came up and said, 'Please — what does this mean?' I explained I wanted to highlight the destruction in Gaza by posting photos on my website — but on the internet people only look at pictures of kittens."

In similarly satirical style, the documentary is styled as a chirpy tourism video, contrasting slogans like, "Make this the year YOU discover a new destination," with stark visuals of the Gaza devastated landscape.
