Behind-The-Scenes with Karlie Kloss on the Pirelli 2013 Shoot
She looks a bit overdressed.
We found out back in June that the man behind the lens on this year's Pirelli Calendar was not a high-fashion Italian photographer screaming "Look at your body! It is incredible!" at his subjects, nor was it a sleazy celebrity photographer wearing oversized glasses who may or may not attempt to bed his subjects during/after the shoot. No, the photographer selected to helm the 2013 Pirelli Calendar shoot is photojournalist Steve McCurry, best known for his iconic 'Afghan Girl' photo that appeared on the cover of National Geographic's June 1985 issue.
We wondered whether this rather high-brow, almost academic choice would affect the ratio of clothes to skin — the Pirelli calendar being an annual reminder of how supermodels look without any clothes on — and if this first behind-the-scenes photo is anything to go by, it's safe to assume that the answer is yes. Karlie Kloss, seen above sitting with Steve on set, appears to be wearing far too many clothes.
According to Vogue Italia "The models were chosen because they are protagonists involved in the support of foundations, NGOs and humanitarian projects".
