Carine Roitfeld x MAC
A smokin' new collaboration.
Carine Roitfeld, fashion’s chicest matriarch and walking tutorial for the ‘smokey eye’, has gone and done the most obvious (yet no less awesome) thing post-Vogue — a collab with MAC. The hardworking ex-model announced the launch of her new magazine in September, but that means naught to the unflappable soon-to-be grandmother. She was involved in every aspect of the creation of the MAC collection, from the colour palette, to the product names, as well as starring in the campaign. Shot by Mario Sorrenti, the ads are all black and white, which is a rarity in cosmetic advertising. Also featured in the collection is a DIY stencil of a little star, for a bit of good old je ne sais quoi.
Carine will be joining the ranks of such MAC collaborators as Iris Apfel, Miss Piggy and Beth Ditto, all fashion queens in their own right. We’re tempted to say that the editrix “shows no signs of slowing down”, except that she would defs roll her (smokey) eyes at that kind of flattery.
