Courtney Love is Manic about Fashion
In a good way, guys...
Courtney Love is one of our favourite crazy people in the fashion world, and possibly even the pop-culture world in general. She pioneered the ever-so-early-nineties babydoll dress and Dr. Martens look that had millions of teenage girls trying to convince their parents to let them leave the house in op-shop lingerie, and she has an underlying endearing quality missing from the likes of Botox Mom.
But when the 46-year-old (!) Hole singer recently stated that after she stopped doing drugs she became "manic about fashion", many people interpreted "manic" as meaning 'demented' rather than 'enthusiastic'. These interpretations were not assuaged by the recent launch of Courtney's fashion blog What Courtney Wore Today, or by her eBay store Courtney Love Couture where she auctions designer creations marked with 'authentic' stains and cigarette burns.

In our opinion, and as her Cavalli gown proves, Courtney Love's best fashion choices have been a mix of these two interpretations from the babydoll dresses and wild platinum blonde locks inspired by various illegal substances, to the cleaner Givenchy Couture lace gown she wore to the recent amFAR Cinema Against Aids Gala (not to mention the slashed, black, reptilian-esque Roberto Cavalli that she wore to El Museo del Barrio, top).
We like that Courtney's recently been making an effort to tone down luxury designs with rock star detailing like DIY crease marks, making them more accessible to those fans who were roaming the streets in lingerie almost 20 years ago. She also seems to have decided not to customise her most recent Givenchy gown, holding her cigarette as far away as possible while performing at amfAR.
