David LaChapelle x Happy Socks

Socks and jocks.

Swedish sock label Happy Socks like their feet-protectors bright. Their penchant for polka dots, stripes and colour-blocked pops make them an unexpected, but not less appropriate ally to photographer David LaChapelle. The some-time film clip director has a well known vision so OTT, camp and colourful, that when he thinks 'socks', he immediately thinks of gigantic toy telephones, mannequins, painted shipping containers and gold penis sleeves. They're just some of the motifs present in David LaChapelle's campaign for his collaborative collection with Happy Socks.

Set in a pastel and primary-coloured industrial landscape, the shoot features models and dancers wearing the socks and not much else, throwing cray shapes that show off the extent of their flexibility — from doing mid-air splits, leaning gymnastically on mannequins, to sitting on top of steel barrels like a bunch of naked Oscar The Grouches. Such is the happiness-inducing nature of these socks.
