Dion Lee FW12 LFW Review
See his debut LFW collection here.
Earlier today in London, Australian designer Dion Lee made his LFW debut with FW12 collection, 'Sequence Breathing'. The TAFE graduate has been a favourite on the local scene since his label's inception three years ago, and this year he was one of two Australians to show on the official LFW schedule (Geoffrey J. Finch of Antipodium showed at Somerset House, while other Aussie ex-pat Richard Nicoll held an off-schedule presentation). Inspired by human anatomy and the work of artist Francis Bacon, Lee presented a concise collection of 15 looks. There was a fluidity to tailoring, which, along with sheer knitwear, diaphanous organza prints and tulle mesh, alluded to breath and had an airy, floaty kind of quality while light-reflective fringing was as delicate as veins. Already receiving a great review from Vogue UK and having Kanye West, Christine Centenera and Lorin Askill onboard (providing shoes, styling and a short film, respectively), it's fair to say that if first impressions stay impressions, Lee will soon become a British favourite too.
