Duran Duran Comeback With Naomi, Cindy, Helena, Eva & Yasmin
80's band enlists OG supermodels for new video.
Duran Duran are staging a comeback —enlisting the help of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova and Yasmin Le Bon in their new clip for 'Girl Panic'. The OG supermodel set takes on the roles of the Duran Duran band members in the video, including their signature sartorial choices. Naomi is (of course) centre stage as lead singer Simon Le Bon, in white fur, while a waistcoat-wearing Cindy plays bassist John Taylor. Yasmin, in flares, is also a guitarist. Duran Duran's keyboardist Nick Rhodes is replaced with the much prettier Eva, and Helena 'rocks out' on the drums, instead of Roger Taylor. Please note the strategic absence of any mullets.
Is the song any good? No idea. And does it even matter? No. No it does not. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (D&G, duh) even make a cameo appearance, playing fashion editors during a photo shoot. Directed by Jonas Ackerlund (who directed Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' and 'Telephone'), this might just be one of the biggest budget clips of the year, unless Yasmin - who thought of the whole idea - managed to swindle some mates rates from her supermodel friends. That, or Duran Duran is still raking in the royalties from their 'Hungry Like The Wolf' days of yore.
The 'Girl Panic' video will be released on November 8, but until then Duran Duran have managed to work out how to use YouTube, uploading a series of (annoyingly short) teaser clips. Here are some of the best ones. Naomi Campbell introducing herself as Simon Le Bon:

Cindy Crawford has never picked up a guitar before this, hey?:
