Exclusive: Emma Mulholland x Anja Konstantinova AW13 Behind-The-Scenes

Preview the new 'Spaced Out' collection!

Emma Mulholland has been busy in Bali coming up with her upcoming AW13 'Spaced Out' collection. We went behind-the-scenes on the lookbook shoot — starring Anja K — and can confirm that it is going to be the best thing your eyeballs have encountered since her last lookbook. Inspired by the conspiracy theory that pyramids were built by aliens, the collection includes hologram-paneled backpacks, extraterrestrial prints and metallics that shine like galaxies, with the batik and tie-dye techniques of her previous collections carrying over.

"The combination of Ancient Egyptian symbols and hieroglyphics can be seen in the prints, which also tied in with an intergalactic space vibe. I looked to sci-fi movies like The Fifth Element and episodes of Star Trek and drew a lot of inspiration from their simple shapes, like A-line shift dresses and raglan sleeves like Dr. Spock," she says about the collection, adding, "The embellishments are also a combination of both of these ideas — like a scarab beetle which has been abducted and replaced by an alien. I drew styling inspiration from Desperately Seeking Susan."

Stay tuned for the release of the lookbook, shot by Byron Spencer and styled by Pauly Bonomelli!
