Get Nailed by Dzine

Nail art TO THE MAX.

If there's one thing we've learnt from this website recently, it's that you guys LOVE nail art. Love it. Turns out lots of other people do too, so The Standard hotel group has decided to jump on the bandwagon by releasing a book called Nailed, the second to be released through its publishing imprint, Standard Press. The book is a collaboration with artist Dzine, best known for his exploration of the more OTT elements of Latino design.

Nailed is a essentially a celebration of the underground nail-art world - did you know there was such a thing? Dzine's researched the history of self-adornment and customisation, culminating in an installation at Salon 94 Freemans (it's an art gallery) in NYC and a mobile nail salon (!) in the New Museum lobby window, giving regular ol' museum visitors the chance to have their very own nail designs. The book, which 8 an introduction by Paper magazine's Kim Hastreiter, consists of 200 pages of photographs of contemporary nail art, including those created by the author himself (shot by Kai Regan).

MOST excitingly, Dzine will be celebrating the release installing another one of his nail salons at The Standard Spa during Art Basel Miami Beach this December.

Nailed is US$45 and will be available exclusively through The Standard shops and website until February 1, 2012, after which it will be distributed internationally by D.A.P.
