Get To Know: Eternal Girl In A Band Angie

Going it alone.

Angela Garrick, aka Angie, has a pretty bloody huge musical repertoire having been in Straight Arrows, Circle Pit, Southern Comfort and Ruined Fortune. With her second solo album Free Agent on its way, Angie's fans from the Sydney garage scene and beyond are cheering.

With this many projects under her belt (and more to come), Angie shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon — so it's time ya'll got to know her.

Name: Angela Garrick

Nickname: Angie, A.Bermuda.

Where are you from and where are you currently living?
I'm from Sydney, and currently live in Sydney although fixated on leaving/moving/being unfixed. :)

What were you into in high school?
I was into computer games like Doom 2, Crystal Castles and Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. I loved weird American 90s music like Free Kitten and Beat Happening.

In what ways have you changed since then?
I would say I'm much the same, although I listen to mainly 70s rock and ambient music, and I'm more into cards and chess as far as games go, hah.

Can you describe your music in five words?
Rock and roll, solos, emotions.

If you could have any animal was a pet, what would you choose?
Definitely a Keeshond dog.

What scares you most?
Fear itself is always the most scary; problems can be overcome.

Who's your dream musical collab?
My dream musical collab is with my best friend Jack!

What's the best YouTube you've ever seen?
Impossible to say, but I'm a big fan of Sabbath playing 'Children of the Grave' live at the Ontario Speedway in 1974.

What's you favourite soundtrack?
It would without a doubt be the Stone soundtrack — rockin', 70s and an awesome Australian film.

Can you describe your dream date?
I hate intense lighting, so definitely minimal lighting, intelligent conversation that flows into unexpected territory, and I suppose delicious red wine?

What three songs would be on your ultimate sexy times playlist?
1. Deux — 'Golden Dreams'

2. Psychic TV — 'Terminus-Xtul'

3.
 Ceramic Hello — 'Climatic Nouveaux'

If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life what would you choose?
Definitely Royal Trux Thank You. Best album ever.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I can only hope to be kind and caring and do the right thing by others and myself. That's all that matters, right?

Angie is launching Free Agent on the following dates:
Friday September 4 — Waywards, Sydney
Tuesday September 8 — Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane
Thursday September 10 — Woolly Mammoth Alehouse, Brisbane
Saturday September 12 — The John Curtain, Melbourne
