Givenchy Appoints Clare Waight As First Female Artistic Director

Replacing Riccardo Tisci.

In the same year that Maria Grazia Chiuri succeeded Raf Simons at Dior Clare Waight Keller has replaced Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy. Three cheers for ladies getting more recognition in an industry, that like many, still sees men dominate in its most senior positions.

The luxury house shared the news on their Instagram overnight, declaring that Clare, the former creative director at Chloé, is the label's new artistic director. The news marks the end of Riccardo's 12-year reign at Givenchy, during which time he established a strong, dark, occasionally goth-tinged vision for the brand. On top of filling these big boots, Clare will be Givenchy's first female artistic director. We can't wait to see what she does with the place!
