golden plains line-up
Roky Erickson, Bon Iver and a wine bar!
The full line-up for the sixth annual Golden Plains festival will be announced over the next fortnight, but we've got the dirt on two very exciting headliner acts. The first is The Godfather of Psychedelic Rock, and founding father of the 13th Floor Elevators - Roky Erickson. You know the song 'You're Gonna Miss me' — Erickson wrote that (when he was 15!). It wasn't all smooth sailing from there, though. He partied a little too hard, ingested a few too many drugs and ended up being diagnosed a paranoid schizophrenic. At one point he believed he was an alien. But he never stopped making amazing music, and seeing him perform in the scenic surrounds of Meredith's Supernatural Amphitheatre should be nothing short of special.

The second act is folk band Bon Iver, who traveled to Iceland to shoot this stunning video and are making an appearance in the next issue of Oyster (out next week!). As the sun sets amongst the Ghost Gums on the Saturday evening of the festival, they'll be playing an extended set of their soulful brand of musical magic.
In other important news, the "no glass" policy at Golden Plains does not mean that vino must be consumed from a goon-bag. Golden Plains Sixxx will mark the opening of Eric's Terrace Wine Bar, where you'll be able to kick back with a couple of plates of tapas and a (plastic) glass of fine wine.
The Golden Plains ticket ballot is now open. Make sure you register your name on the list before it closes at 10pm on Friday October 14.
