Guest Playlist and Giveaway: Electric Guest
Win tickets to their Splendour sideshows!
When Danger Mouse approves something, it's probably pretty decent. Electric Guest's debut album Mondo, the product of Asa Taccone and Matthew 'Cornbread' Compton, was produced by the legend behind Beck's Modern Guilt and The Black Keys' Attack & Release, which — along with its catchy melodies and funk grooves — has made it one of the most anticipated indie albums of the year.
The electro-pop/soul duo have been working on the record on and off for years while trying to deal with their steep rent in LA, but managed to release the album last May. They're playing Splendour next weekend, and to celebrate, we asked Asa to put together a playlist of his favourite duets and duos:
Light Asylum – 'Dark Allies'
Outkast – 'So Fresh, So Clean'
Lee Hazelwood & Nancy Sinatra – 'Summer Wine'
Girls – 'Vomit'
8 Ball & MJG – 'Pimp Hard'
Air – 'Sexy Boy'
Simon & Garfunkel – 'Sounds Of Silence'
Gangstarr – 'Discipline'
The Everly Brothers – 'All I Have To Do Is Dream'
As well as playing Splendour, Electric Guest will do sideshows in Sydney (on Tuesday July 31 at Oxford Art Factory) and Melbourne (on Wednesday August 1 at Northcote Social Club). We've got a double pass to each show to give away!
