In The Gardens Curated by Misha Hollenbach
Art! Rugs! Wine! Beer!
Next Thursday, collaborative exhibition In The Gardens opens at Utopian Slumps gallery in Melbourne. The exhibition 8 a collection of rugs woven in Tibet and designed by various international artists including Christian Hidaka, Chris Johanson, Misaki Kawai, Barry McGee, Keegan McHargue, Constanze Zikos and Misha Hollenbach, who is also curating the show.
Hollenbach, who has previously had two solo exhibitions at Utopian Slumps and is also known as half of Melbourne label P.A.M., is a multitalented artist who works across collage, screen-printing, sculpture and installation and whose interests lie in the relationship between contemporary culture and the primitive. Hidaka, Johanson, Kawai, McGee, McHargue and Zikos work across painting, drawing, installation, moving image, mixed media and textiles and, in their individual work, focus on areas as vastly different and idiosyncratic as space stations, fetishism, the West Coast of America, cultural identity and plenty more.
In The Gardens opens at Utopian Slumps on December 8 from 6-8pm and runs until December 24 (Ground Floor, 33 Guilford Lane, Melbourne).
