Johnny Depp Is Creating A TV Show Based On Shakespeare's Plays
Proving that television is a superior artistic medium and all others should bow down to it, Johnny Depp is creating a scripted TV series based on the plays of William Shakespeare. It will be a modern take on Shakespeare's body of work, Deadline reports, building on existing characters and plots. Hopefully this means it will be for the TV drama genre what 10 Things I Hate About You was for the teen rom-com genre (ie awesome).
Johnny's production company Infinitum Nihil is working with the producers of the original Scandinavian Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy and the creator of early HBO series Oz, Tom Fontana. Oz was the prison drama in which SVU's Christopher Meloni played a gay serial killer who was constantly shirtless and/or naked. It is not yet known for sure whether Johnny himself will appear in the series, but as a note to everyone involved: please make it a priority to cast Christopher Meloni.
