Josh Goot Also Pulls Out of MBFWA

Following Dion Lee, Josh Goot has also announced he will not show this year.

It's a sad day for MBFWA. Last night we heard rumours that a few big name designers were pulling out of the schedule, and this morning Dion Lee announced that he was pulling out of the event, which is set to start on April 30. Now, Josh Goot has announced that he will not show his SS12/13 collection at MBFWA either. Two of most anticipated shows and two of the most acclaimed local designers, the news of their withdrawal comes as something of a shock. Dion's show at the Opera House last year received critical praise, while Josh's show was goosebump-inducing (not even kidding). In a press release issued just minutes ago, Josh Goot said:

"This is the right decision for the Josh Goot brand, business and team. We’ve had an amazing response to Spring Summer 2012, and I think it’s important that we consolidate our position, rather than rush into a new collection to show at MBFWA. The entire studio and I want to focus on the Resort collection without the distraction of a show.

I believe strongly in Australian Fashion Week as an important initiative that strengthens our domestic fashion story. I hope to participate in the event in the years to come."

Josh Goot will present a Resort collection in June to coincide with the international schedule.
