London Diary: Galactic Gardens Jewellery Exhibition
Futuristic finery by Noor Fares and Eugenie Niarchos.
A very unique pop-up store opened in London last week in at the Shizaru gallery. London-based jewellery designers and BFFs Noor Fares and Eugenie Niarchos have set up shop in the vault of the gallery where the artwork is usually hidden, displaying their own individual collections alongside a new collaboration of theirs.
'Galactic Gardens' is made up of two pairs of earrings (in the shape of wings) and four rings (shaped like futuristic shields for your fingers). Very tough/modern — think Xena meets Rihanna's 'Diamonds' video — and in 18ct gold with diamonds, moonstones and sapphires, natch.
Though she's still studying, Noor's name has been popping up more and more as one to watch, thanks to her eponymous fine jewellery line of unique shapes and blingin' stones. She has an uncanny ability to find inspiration and beauty in the most unexpected places — her recent collection, also on display, is called 'Geometry 101'.
On opening night the two girls looked like twins in matching Dolce & Gabbana dresses and were joined by close friends Julia Restoin Roitfeld (who we interviewed for #94), Miroslava Duma (featured in our current issue) and Elena Perminova (who was showing off her new bleached blonde 'do). After the launch guests were treated to dinner at Loulou's, London's new member's club for people who are really good at life.
