Lonely's Beautiful New Campaign Proves Age Ain't Nothing But A Number
Boundry-smashing lingerie label Lonely just did another cool thing. The champions of diversity and body-positivity cast 56-year-old model Mercy Brewer as the face of their latest campaign and the results are pure perfection. The Harry Were-shot images see the certified stunner own the hell out of Lonely's delicate lace range with style, grace and sass.
We caught up with Helene, the mastermind behind Lonely, to talk true beauty, dumb stereotypes and achieving the Lonely vision.
Can you talk us through the reason behind casting Mercy?
Helene Morris: Firstly, we wanted to show our product is a reflection of our values and our beliefs on diversity, and this is something we are constantly trying to challenge ourselves to describe. Secondly, we feel it's important that we use our imagery to challenge conventional thinking on things like body positivity and inclusion… it's our hope that we can help build women's confidence in themselves and help them understand that there is beauty in all of us just as we are.
What's your personal definition of beauty at this moment in time?
We believe that true beauty is a reflection of your heart and mind in the way you treat yourself and others.
What stereotypes surrounding age and ageing do you think we need to breakdown/get rid of?
We as people need to realise that stereotyping and extending judgements is a failing on one's own behalf; we need to move beyond our own restricted conditioning and see individuals for who they really are.
