Marc Jacobs' First Movie Film Role Revealed
Marc Jacobs' role in 'Disconnected' revealed.
Remember hearing that mysterious sliver of news last year that Marc Jacobs had been cast in indie flick, Disconnect? Remember feeling disappointed that no further information was offered up? We do. Luckily, though, more details have now been dished, hyping up quite a lot of enthusiasm and encouraging more than a few quizzical reactions.
“Marc Jacobs is playing a what now?” He plays Harvey, the sleazeball that lures in runaway teens and convinces them to participate in porn chat sites. Apparently he pulls the role off with panache, too. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the film:
In a curious bit of casting, fashion designer Marc Jacobs registers convincingly in his couple of scenes as Harvey, the sleazy surrogate parent of the sex-cam models, luring them off the street with the promise of shelter and income.
That’s certainly got our interest piqued. And as if that weren’t enough, Jacobs will be starring in the Henry-Alex Rubin film alongside vampire Adonis Alexander Skarsgård and Arrested Development funny man Jason Bateman. Disconnected will reportedly be a social commentary on the ‘wired’ nature of today’s world, though an official trailer is yet to be released.
In other Marc-related news, rumours have begun swirling that the designer will move his menswear show from Milan to London as of next year and take place in the new ‘London Collections’ menswear fashion week. Following the designer's NYFW show last week, Marc Jacobs CEO Robert Duffy told Vogue UK:
I have asked Marc to do it and it’s something we hope to do next year.
