Lawrence Macrow-Cain, otherwise known as Loz, is one of The Wolves' newest faces. He recently signed with the agency when his friend sent in some photos, and we reckon he might be the next big thing — he's already started to gain interest internationally from a few I'm-kind-of-a-big-deal-fashion-people. We can't give anything too juicy away, but we can tell you that he's the new face of Globe and just got back from New York where he was shooting a campaign for the brand.
Ingrid Kesa: How old are you?
Lawrence Macrow-Cain: I'm 20, turning 21 in November, and I can't wait!
Where did you grow up?
In Avalon on the Northern Beaches. It's a super lovely place but there's too many rich yuppies.
And where do you live now?
Still in Avalon, still too many rich yuppies.
What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A vet, I think. I really wanted to be in a punk band too, and I wanted a motorcycle really bad. Only one of those dreams came true.
How did you get into modelling?
I was working in a skate shop and a mate of mine, Gabe, who is a very beautiful guy, came in to get some shit and he asked me if I modelled and I was like, "nah." He ended up taking a couple photos of my head and sent them to Six Wolves and now I'm here. It's amazing and I love it!
What's the funnest job you've done so far?
Big question! I did a really fun video clip for Birds of Tokyo where I got to break lots of stuff! I just got back from New York where I was shooting for Globe with Jason Lee Parry, which was insane!
What's the biggest misconception about being a male model?
That you have to do awkward/lame shit. It's actually really fun and most of the time you are just fucking around and doing cool stuff. People are way too judgemental.
What's your career goal within modelling?
To continue to be happy and hopefully travel a bit. I haven't really thought about it though so that was a shit answer, sorry.
I will forgive you. Apart from modelling, what do you do?
I surf and skate all the time with my buddies, The Undercuts (look at us on Instagram
— we're super fun and I promise you won't regret it). Sometimes we do little tours out to other skateparks and stuff. My friends are crazy so we always end up doing something weird. I work on my motorcycle a lot as well. It's an '83 Honda CM250. It's fun learning about stuff when I break it, which is a little too often unfortunately.
What was the last video you watched on YouTube?
Ben Nordberg's 2012 flip part. It's crazy, he is an amazing skateboarder.
What's your dream place to travel to?
I have this disgustingly built up expectation of California. I would love to go there and ride a Harley and skate and surf and get super loose!
Your date is over for dinner. What do you cook them?
I can't cook. They'd probably get some sort of breakfast meal. Sorry baby. Maybe I'd make burritos with this tasty sauce that has onion and diced tomato with brown sugar and butter. Fuck, so tasty. It's the only thing I can cook.
The year is almost halfway through. Have you achieved any of your new year's resolutions yet?
Fuck yeah I have! My resolution was to be happy and a better person because I fucked up big time with my ex. That was earlier this year but it kind of counts. If she reads this I hope she knows that I'm sorry and that I hope she's happy now.
