Missoni x Havaiana

The humble Havaiana has been elevated to new fashionable heights.

The humble Havaiana thong (or 'jandal' if you hail from across the ditch) has been elevated to new fashionable heights thanks to a collaboration with Missoni. Missoni have added their signature zig zag print to the ubiquitous rubber footwear, creating a capsule collection filled with bold colours and vitality.

For the uninitiated, Havaianas were first created in 1962 by Alpargatas, a Brazilian shoe company. To date, they are Brazil's most successful export. The colours adorning the Missoni Havainas were not chosen by accident; Angela Missoni purposely combined the red, white and green of the Italian flag with the green and yellow of the Brazilian flag. To take the words out of her mouth, "Brazil and Italy have many things in common, that's why the partnership with Havaianas. The idea of a meeting between two icons and two cultures has inspired the concept and colours of the designs, from the packaging to the flip flops."

The Missoni Havaianas will be available at Missoni stores, on Net-A-Porter, and from the Havianas website.
