Model of the Moment: Ruby Jean Wilson

We profile the 18-year-old Australian model who opened and closed the Marc Jacobs at NYFW this week.

After opening and closing Marc Jacobs' NYFW show a few days ago, 18-year-old Australian model Ruby Jean Wilson is the talk of the town at the moment. The Scottish-born babe spent the better part of her teens living in Terrigal on the Central Coast, signing with Priscilla's in 2009 after sending in photos at the insistence of her schoolmates. "We instantly knew she was model material, so we asked her to come in for a meeting," her Australian agent Jaz Daly tells Oyster about the then 15-year-old.

"Her porcelain skin, fine features, and statuesque height are what makes Ruby Jean stand out, along with her loving personality. We absolutely adore Ruby Jean!" Jaz says. It's no surprise, then, that she is represented by top agencies Elite in Paris and Ford in New York.

Ruby Jean made her international debut in 2010 walking for Lacoste at New York Fashion Week. The following year she walked in no less than 15 shows on the international SS12 circuit, including Louis Vuitton, Burberry Prorsum, Jeremy Scott, Marchesa and Marc Jacobs. In the way of editorial, Ruby Jean has featured in I-D, Dazed and Confused, Wonderland, Teen Vogue, Interview Russia and, of course, Oyster! Her notable campaigns this year include Christopher Kane Resort and Ksubi Eyewear.

"If being named Marc Jacobs' muse is anything to go by," Jaz says of Ruby Jean's recent headlining act at NYFW, "the season will only get better for her." Expect to see her all up on the runways at London, Milan and Paris, too.

We asked Ruby if she has any weird habits — surely she has to be human like the rest of us! "Waking up early without an alarm every day, even on days off! I don't like to sleep in," was her reply. Superhuman indeed.
