Model Roosmarijn De Kok Arrested For Stealing Chocolate Bars
Goes to court on Whole Foods shoplifting charges.
Dutch model Roosmarijn de Kok appeared in court recently after being arrested for shoplifting. The Manhattan Criminal Court charged the 19-year-old who's covered Vogue Thailand and shot for Urban Outfitters, with "petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree," after she left a Whole Foods store with a bottle of fish oil and three chocolate bars in her bag. The defendant wore Saint Laurent.
"Before we proceed, please tell your client to unfold her arms," the judge told her lawyer during Roosmarijn's day in court. Said lawyer objects to the charges, claiming his client simply forgot to take the chocolate bars and fish oil out of her bag while purchasing other things, like non-fat yogurt and protein bars.
As he told the NY Post, "While she was about to leave the store … she remembered what she had in her bag. When she turned around, the store detectives were like, 'We got you,'" adding, "The complaint states that she attempted to leave — it doesn't state that she did leave. She's totally innocent."
The model was offered a conditional dismissal yesterday, but turned it down to argue for a full dismissal, claiming she's neither guilty of shoplifting or eating unhealthily. Remember kids: Don't shoplift from Whole Foods. They have 'store detectives' with eagle eyes. Will they base an episode of Law & Order on this case? Time will tell.
