New Drake & James Blake Singles, Plus Beach House & Phoenix Videos

All of the music.

In between producing Aaliyah's posthumous album and dropping 50k at strip clubs, Drake has found time to record a new single. '5AM in Toronto' is another example of the swift-styling wordsmith at his best, and it's literally about how good he is. Drake raps about how he "made Forbes list, nigga" and that without him "rap is just a bunch of orphans." The lyrics make reference to his upcoming album Nothing Was The Same so the song might appear on that, although the tracklisting is not yet known.

James Blake (who featured in Oyster #95) has also dropped a new single, 'Digital Lion'. It's his second in just a month, from upcoming album Overgrown. 'Digital Lion' was brought to life with the help of Brian Eno, the mastermind behind pretty much everything ambient, and features what sounds like James Blake having a foodgasm, which only he could make sound good.

Moving on to some visually stimulating news, Beach House (who we interviewed a little while back) have just released their 'Wishes' video, directed by Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric fame. In true Tim and Eric style, the video is a strange, almost creepy, half-time football show featuring Ray Wise from Twin Peaks — sensing a theme here

We've also included this clip of Eric as an indication of our reaction.

Finally, Phoenix's single 'Entertainment' from their upcoming album Bankrupt has also been imagined on film. The synth-heavy track is accompanied by what might be an homage to Asian cinema — the damsel in distress, the lovers in Imperial China, the soldier stuck in the daily grind. Either way it's a fun watch.
