New York Fashion Week Mid-Week Wrap-Up

NYFW is halfway through! Here's everything you need to know so far.

Best beauty... (above)
Who needs make-up when you've got a face like this? Instead of fighting the New York heat, Rag & Bone went with it. It was all about the brow and natural, hydrated skin. A little colour on the cheeks gave off a 'running for a cab' glow. Beauty Director Gucci Westman told Into The Gloss that she used nipple cream (no joke) on the lips to let the natural colour come through. Faces were finished with Evian spray, and hair was wet-look, slicked at the front and left free at the back.

Best new faces...
Irina @ Ford has amazing green eyes and killer red hair.

Asia @ Marilyn is another brand-new face. She's from Poland is surely one to watch with her cute gap-toothed grin (which, naturally, we didn't manage to get a photo of!)

Best gimmick...
Glow in the dark at Alexander Wang. Girls getting charged up backstage.

Best runway backdrop...
Y-3 wigged-out with psychedelic visual projections.

Best tweets...
Mindy Kaling, who you may know as Kelly Kapoor in The Office, further proved her awesomeness by posting a series of fake NYFW tweets. She sets the scene by establishing that she is bedding Adrien Brody.

Best accessory...
Perhaps the biggest trend to emerge from this season's presentations will be — wait for it — augmented reality glasses. Models at DVF were sent down the runway wearing Google Glasses, a soon(ish)-to-be-released invention from the internet overlords. They allow the wearer to take pictures, record videos and receive messages among other crazy things — go to DVF's Google+ page for a taste. On September 13, the POV video from the models who participated in the show will be broadcast on DVF's YouTube channel. The future is now.

Best off-schedule presentation...
Would have to be Prism's. Held on the rooftop at The Standard, models sat poolside eating popsicles and generally having fun.

Best celebrity cameo...
Maggie Gyllenhaal was refreshingly unpretentious in Rag & Bone's front row.

Best party...
Okay, so it hasn't actually happened yet, but judging from their invite alone, we're guessing Opening Ceremony's party tonight will be one of the highlights of the week.
