Watch this space

Four designer's names have been plucked from the hopefuls as the Vauxhaull Fashion Scout's 'Ones To Watch'.

The lucky few recipients of this up-and-comer's dream were Askh, Eudon Choi, David Longshaw and Florencia Kozuch. All four will unveil their showcase A/W 2010-11 collections at London Fashion Week's initiative for new talent.

Askh is the work of Ann Sofie Madsen and Katrine Hedegaard, and their designs lie in the space between ready-to-wear and couture creations. From Eudon Choi, you can expect a striking balance between elements of menswear and a more feminine silhouette. This silhouette finds a playful and avant-garde aesthetic under the eye of David Longshaw, who was influenced by his previous work with Alberta Ferretti and MaxMara. The creations by Florencia Kozuch are even more theatrical than her name, inspired by her native Buenos Aires.

All eyes will be on these new names; they are set to impress when they unveil their men's and women's collections at LFW.

Buxom babes hit London Fashion Week

Canadian designer Mark Fast has shocked fashion royalty after using plus sized models in his latest show at this years London Fashion Week.

Fast used three size 12 and 14 models to wear a collection of scuplted knitwear but the move isn't sitting well with everyone. A leaked report suggests trouble back stage, with Fast's stylist reportidly walking out because of the new look.
Fast remains strong against opinion telling CBC News, "There's such beauty out there and it's unfortunate that it's only representative in one size … so it's just a new celebration of all women." "I think it's time really."
Size 12 model, Hayley Morley told press she was excited about Fast's decision and what it meant for other plus size models. "The ripple effect that's coming out from this is fantastic," Morley said. "I don't know exactly how booked I am. I don't know yet. But it's great. It's great for curvy models in general, it's great for the fashion industry."
However if you want a seasoned professionals opinion, leave it to top mod Naomi Campbell who only had this to say: "If the girl's beautiful and she can model-why not?"
London Fashion Week runs from the 18th of September and finishes up on the 23rd.

2009 is set to be a year of firsts for London Fashion Week

Tongues are wagging over recent news releases regarding September 2009’s London Fashion Week.

Amongst the developments, Sydney based design duo Sass and Bide will be showing their collection at LFW to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The Sydney-siders claim the concept for their label was first born in London, which means their return, after ten years of growing international attention, marks a special occasion.

Also, designer Peter Jensen has surprised fashion week officials with his decision to present his spring/summer 2010 collection in the form of a private presentation rather than a catwalk show, utilizing film, photography and the intimacy of “sharing a cup of tea” with his guests to create a coveted fashion week event.

Finally, LFW officials have announced a second venue will be used for the September events. 180 The Strand has been chosen as a modern space for fashion week shows, incorporating a bar and café to strengthen the atmosphere between events. Amongst the first labels and designers to showcase in the new location are Ksubi, Australia’s Tina Kalivas and S***R.

Vivienne Westwood at London Fashion Week

Stars were out in full force to front-row Vivienne Westwood’s “Back to School” Red Label show at Olympia, in Hammersmith over the weekend. Infamously known for her slightly outrageous punk designs throughout the 70’s, Westwood managed to put a new spin on an age old attitude as girls paraded in skewed uniform-style outfits with striped school scarves, interesting pleated plaid skirts and gorgeous blazers and coats, one even with a gold tasselled tricorn to match.

As reported by the Telegraph. Co.uk, she cleverly “cast Jo Wood, the estranged wife of Rolling Stone, Ronnie Wood, as the school’s headmistress, in a three-piece trouser suit and a scarlet academic robe, based on the ones she designed for King’s College in London. The exaggerated shoulder – long a signature of Westwood’s work and undergoing a comeback for next autumn/winter – featured in brocade and silk dresses, with triangular sleeves."
