Introducing Sir Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs gets a nod from the French government.

French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterand will acknowledge Marc Jacobs impact on the french fashion industry when he is decorated as a Chevalier des Artes et des Lettres (Knight of Order of Arts and Letters).

Jacobs is, of course, known for his position at the helm of Louis Vuitton as Creative Director, as well as for his own brand Marc Jacobs and the diffusion line Marc by Marc.

The ceremony, which is taking place during Mens Paris Fashion Week, will also honour Nathalie Rykiel, who is President and Creative Director of her mother Sonia Rykiel's label.

Sonia Rykiel for H&M

Sonia Rykiel is set to design a couple of amazing yet affordable lines for H&M.

The Parisian designer, who has a penchant for black and loves a smattering of all things shiny, will release what will no doubt be a coveted collection of lingerie for autumn/winter 2009/2010 and a light knitwear collection for spring/summer 2010.

Rykiel’s knack for knitwear has made her an icon in the fashion industry, but now her knit-taculor designs will be available in 1,500 stores worldwide, whilst the lingerie line will also be sold through Rykiel’s own boutiques.

Rykiel’s artistic director, Nathalie Rykiel, recently stated that “The knitwear collection is perfect for welcoming a colourful new season”.

With our comparatively mild Australian winters, an online H&M knitwear purchase may be just the ticket.
