Would you ever?

Louis Vuitton are releasing this garbage bag inspired handbag....

Retailing at $2000 its slightly above the price of your average set of 30 garbage bags. However the design comes in dark brown and grey, with a changeable leather strap. The immediate connection to the "Derelicte" collection of Zoolander really puts this in to context with one blogger commenting "If someone is willing to buy what is an obvious anti-capitalist statement, then let'em."

Hermes to breed bags

With the purchase of a classic Hermes Birkin or Kelly bag you can expect a lengthy wait and a costly cough-up in excess of $70,000.

Yet the affluent brand seems far from a recession rut, as they announced they would be breeding its own crocodiles to keep up with demand. Confirming Hermes produces over 3,000 crocodile bags each year, Chief Executive, Patrick Thomas told the Reuters Global Luxury Summit in Paris, “We are now breeding our own crocodiles on our own farms, mainly in Australia.” He explained further by saying, "we cannot face demand. We have massive over-demand. We are limited by our ability to train new craftsmen … the world is not full of crocodiles.”

What does your handbag say about you?

Forget tea leaves, palm readings and magazine quizzes because the latest tool to decipher your personality may be right under nose, or at least over your shoulder.

According to her latest book 'How to Tell a Woman by her Handbag', Australian author Kathryn Eisman says the handbag a woman carries reveals the kind of traits she has.

The television presenter and model has spent two years researching the subject, inspired after the success of her previous book 'How to Tell a Man by His Shoes'.

"I think at some point somebody thought I was going to mug them because I was sitting on the subway or walking down the street and I was staring at their handbag," she said.

"I've always believed you can tell a lot about people by the details ... the intricacies that they think no one else will notice."

In her book, Eisman identifies 39 different types of bag ladies and says her book is a celebration of all kinds of women.

"When you feel like you have some idea where they're coming from, you know how to relate to them and bring out the best in them," she said.

"It's not judgment, it's understanding. It's done in a tongue-in-cheek way and it's not meant to be reworking Freud's theory on personality."
