Oyster joins the search for new photographers

In collaboration with innovative, independent magazines from around the globe, Oyster is on the hunt for an auspicious new photographer as part of the 10 BEST 10 competition.

Together with New York based photography company WIN-Initiative and magazines such as ZOOM, S Magazine and Let Them Eat Cake, we’re looking for creative, interesting and accessible photographic submissions that bring something unique to the table.

Entrants should submit ten photographs that they feel best showcase their talent and ingenuity to the WIN-Initiative website, with Oyster magazine picking the final representative for the Asia-pacific region.

This competition offers photographers international attention and the chance to work on a shoot, and closes March 8th- so get snapping!

Paul Mitchell presents Emerging Artist Style Session

Consider yourself a hair styling virtuoso? Emerging Artist Style Session is giving aspiring session stylists the perfect platform with an opportunity to assist, on-set, alongside Australia’s beauty masters

The Paul Mitchell Emerging Artist Style Session invites you to submit a story-board instilling and reflecting the direction of on-trend Australian hair and fashion.
The winner will be flown to Sydney to participate in the Paul Mitchell shoot, which will feature as Paul Mitchell’s 2010 advertising campaign. The shoot will also star in non other than yours truly, with an exclusive four-page spread. Oyster will also be on hand to catch behind-the-scenes magic for Oyster Vision.
The Paul Mitchell Emerging Artist Style Session is also offering some amazing prizes, for three winning story-boards, including subscriptions to Oyster, Paul Mitchell products and vouchers.

Oyster needs you!

Oyster is opening its glossy doors, calling on YOU.
Oyster is looking for an online editorial intern during August and September with the possibility of further work.


If you have any previous experience sub-editing, proof reading and can handle an apple computer we want to hear from you.
As an editorial intern you will be writing content for the Oyster website, including short news articles and longer pieces. You may also get the chance to interview bands, fashion designers and write CD reviews, however It’s primarily a writing and sub-editing position.
We want enthusiastic and Oyster-luvin’ people as the position is unpaid, with a passion for fashion, indie music and art.
You will be working closely with people in supervisory positions and must hold initiative to seek out work in quieter times.
