NYFW FW13 Backstage: Jeremy Scott

We hang out with Cara Delevigne and Lindsey Wixson.

Jeremy Scott's FW13 collection was an understated and subtle offering featuring wardrobe staples like over-the-knee candy raver boots and checkered bustiers. A neon green full-body fur suit, complete with hood and tail, was shag pile rug meets Where The Wild Things Are wardrobe department. I imagine this is what Nicki Minaj would wear on a first date, sexy but not slutty.

Crazy cartoon prints were reminiscent of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters (note to self: watch this weekend), while self-consciously cheesy anarchy symbols and slogans like 'too rare to die' appeared on knitwear and took us back to our tween angst days of rocking out to Sum 41 in our bedrooms. The beauty direction complimented the clothes — girls wore glam rock wigs and thick fluro eyeliner.

As is typical of his collections, this one was fun, young and tongue-in-cheek — qualities rare to find in the FW season.

I also think Jeremy Scott's undying dedication to Simpons references should be applauded.
