PFW FW13 Backstage: Dries Van Noten

Dries, yes please!

Dries Van Noten's FW13 collection has been one of our favourites from Fashion Month so far. Always favouring a girl-meets-boy-and-they-swap-clothes aesthetic, for FW13 Dries' overall look was cross between ballroom dancer and a gentleman's club. While last season the label took cues from Kurt Cobain, this season sees Hollywood dancing couple Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers acting as inspiration. This meant that feathers, fringing, jewels and brocade were worn at once with men's trousers, classic shirting and heavy lug-soled brogues. But the 90s sentiment of Spring was still there, this time more minimal than grunge. The pinstripe skirt 'n pants combos reminded us of something Winona Ryder may have worn at her peak.
