Pirelli 2013 Calendar Shot by National Geographic Photojournalist?

Steve McCurry has reportedly shot Karlie Kloss and others for next year's calendar, says an Italian newspaper.

The 2013 Pirelli Calender has reportedly been shot by photojournalist Steve McCurry, according to Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera. You might not recognise McCurry's name but you definitely know his work; he's the guy responsible for one of the world's most recognised photographs in the history of National Geographic (and beyond) which appeared on the magazine's June 1985 cover.

Though we will have to wait to see exactly how highfalutin the calendar imagery becomes under McCurry's direction, fans of the calendar are surely crossing their fingers and toes hoping he doesn't skimp on the T and A (especially since Karlie Kloss is involved this time around!).

Just to remind you what your typical Pirelli Calendar looks like:

And to remind you what the work of a revered photojournalist looks like:

Past photographers of the calendar include Mario Sorrenti, Karl Lagerfeld, Terry Richardson, Patrick Demarchelier, Bruce Weber, Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz and Herb Ritts. Until the 2013 calendar's release (usually at the start of December) enjoy our Pirelli retrospective and relive the glory of Sorrenti's 2012 calendar images.
