Proenza Schouler Resort 2013 Lookbook
A reminder of why they're killing it (not that we need one).
Exciting things are happening in the lives of Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. The Proenza Schouler boys were recently nominated for the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, and are setting their sights on a first flagship which will open next month in New York. This new collection comes as a reminder of why they're killing it (not that we need one).
Like we saw for Pre-Fall, there are oversized silhouettes, and visual clues point to a focus on the functional. Even with the more ladylike dresses there's still something utilitarian about them — belts cinched at the waist are more no-fuss than overly feminine. This season sees classic tweed redone Proenza-style in boxy shapes with leather-trim. In fact, leather is key in this collection, with a number of slouchy, oversized styles. Colours are minimal, all bar that pop of neon yellow and deep blue. Anyone who can make jeans and a t-shirt look that cool should be applauded.
