Rene Vaile x Big Day Out Sydney 2013

Stranger in the crowd.

If you have ever come across the marvel that is Rene Vaile's Instagram, you will understand his tendency towards shooting unposed photos of (sometimes) unsuspecting subjects. His take on festival photography at the Sydney Big Day Out adopted a similar sort of candid nature. The photos, which are meant to appear like lo-fi VCR stills, offer a close-up and intimate look at just some of the individuals who made up the 57,000-person crowd. See the gallery above, and check out our Tumblr for some GIF greatness!
