Rookie Road Trip x Urban Outfitters Lookbook
Dreamy dappled light, flower crowns, and 90s whimsy care of Tavi Gevinson.
Rookie went on a road trip with Urban Outfitters. This summer, the adventurous teen dream Rookie team — headed by Tavi Gevinson — jumped on a bus and headed all over the US for hang times and bro-downs with their fans. According to Tavi, said hanging and bro-ing down involves ice-cream eating, zine-making, live readings by contributors and other, similar fun.
Another facet to the 'Road Trip' collaboration has been unveiled, in the form of this lookbook. It was shot by Tavi's main girl Petra Collins (who we interviewed a little while back) and stays true to the whimsical, vintage-inspired, DIY-style the pair so love (check out their contribution to Oyster #99).
All dreamy filters, dappled light, flower crowns and heart-shaped frames, it's something of a hybrid of Stanley Kubrik's Lolita and Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides. That's if we're talking film. Otherwise, it's a pretty good representation of that lusciously lazy summer holiday you went on in 1997 or thereabouts. Also noteworthy are the pastel colours, rhinestone accents and loads of lush grass to laze about on.
Oh, to be young and free.
By the way, we're pretty excited about Rookie's first foray into print!
