Ryan Gosling Is Sick Of Ryan Gosling

Takes a break from acting, denies ever saying 'hey, girl' despite meme.
An iconic moment in modern cinema.

Future husband material and maybe-cuter-than-a-puppy Ryan Gosling has announced that he is taking a break from acting because, as he explained to the A.P., "I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does." He reiterated this in another recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, "I think I've kind of over-saturated myself with myself... I just need a little break from myself." Baby don't leave, I can change!

This 'break' Ryan speaks of is apparently so he can extend his acting repertoire — I mean, how many times can you play a nice hot guy? The answer is a lot. "I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to... reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it," the unofficial face of the Rom-Com genre told The Hollywood Reporter. "I got into the habit of just having a lot of options, and then suddenly getting option anxiety, and I need to get a little distance and give myself and the audience a little break."

Ladies, before you start sobbing into that litre tub of Ben & Jerry's, be comforted in the knowledge that this isn't the last you'll be seeing of Ryan. His next film The Place Beyond the Pines will be released later this month, he has two films in post-production and he will also make his directional debut with How to Catch a Monster later this year. Phew.

Also speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan denies ever saying 'hey, girl' despite the meme made in his honour. "I've never said it in my life," he states. He also employs a very creative Fabio-related analogy to explain the popularity of the meme ("I think it really is sort of like, I'm a pigeon and the Internet is Fabio and it just happened") which makes us think that while he's on this acting break he should take some time to write a book on literary devices.
