Showcase Gallery Launch
Bringing the personal works of creative professionals out of the desktop folder.
The artistic world has a lot of preconceptions about the commercial one. Advertising is the devil's game, commercialism is the antithesis of creativity, and taking part in either requires that you first donate a certain portion of your soul. But the two aren't always mutually exclusive, as a new Sydney art gallery hopes to make people realise.
Showcase Gallery will officially open in Darlinghurst in August, and aims to give exposure to the personal works of creative professionals who are currently lending their minds to more commercial enterprises. The launch exhibition (26 July - 13 August) will feature personal pieces by internationally recognised photographers Mark Mawson, Chuck Bradley and Nicholas Alan Cope, designers Bianca Chang and Terry Chrisholm, and art directors Paul Meates and Jed DePyper.
Whether you're lamenting the loss of your own artistic impulses in the process of forging a more commercial career, or you simply want to see some cool art, stop by Showcase Gallery some time before 13 August.
Showcase Gallery is located in Suite 3, Level 2, 85 William Street Darlinghurst.
