Social Snaps: Kate Sylvester AW12 and Optical Launch

Plus a sneak peek at the new range!

Last week, the newly refurbished Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tamaki hosted an evening to celebrate the AW12 range and new optical offering from one of New Zealand's best designers. Kate Sylvester based her collection on cult film The Secretary, where the character played by Maggie Gyllenhaal becomes involved in a sadomasochistic relationship with her boss. The presentation on the night played out some of the scenes from the film: models – dressed as prim and proper secretaries – crawled down the catwalk, tied each other up, flashed the front row and even had their bottoms smacked. It was a real rarity for the runway!

Check out our social snaps from the night and also have a sneak preview of the AW12 collection, which will be available from February next year. We know – it's a long time to wait, so you'll be happy to hear that the new optical line (with round and cat eye frames) will be in store next month.
