Social Snaps: Melbourne Metal Collective
The emerging jewelry designers show their new collections as part of LMFF.
Jewellery is one of those things that I've always been known to rant about and be proud to show off my somewhat excellent collection of. Yet, when it comes time to critiquing and describing it, I never really think I can do it justice. It's pretty lucky, then, that there were a small army of photographers at Melbourne Metal Collective's Cave opening on Saturday night. As part of this year's L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, this seven person strong group of emerging designers took over part of Curtin House to showcase their latest works and provide an abundance of free alcohol to us launch party loving types.
Works from Estelle Deve and Maripossa followed their aesthetics of off-kilter ethereal elegance that we've come to know and love, while works from Henson and Young Hunting brought a slightly more sombre mood through the use of heavy metals and blunt edges. In amongst it all were hyperactive bursts of neon greatness from up-and-comers Alexandra Blak and Hamish Munro, and as mentioned before, an abundance of free alcohol. It was definitely one of the highlights from this year's LMFF. Check out the socials below:
