The New Season Of 'American Crime Story' Will Focus On Gianni Versace's Assassination
Having already produced a ripper of a true crime binge fest, The People v. O.J. Simpson, and with a Hurricane Katrina season in the works, the American Crime Story crew have announced that their third season will focus on the suss murder of Gianni Versace. Huge.
Gianni was shot and killed in 1997 on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion after he'd taken it upon him self to get his own coffee and newspapers from the store — something his assistants would usually do. The murderer was Andrew Cunanan, who took his own life on a boat with the same gun a week later. Police had said that the didn't know the motive, and that they may never know.
So, while the story lacks the "did he or didn't he" thread that had us hooked on the O.J. series, Making A Murderer and the Amanda Knox story, we will get to speculate Andrew Cunanan's motives. On it.
