The UV Race Sydney Film Screening
Featuring cameos by Twerps, School of Radiant Living, Total Control and more.
Victorian band The UV Race have made their first feature film and following from its opening in Melbourne, it will screen in Sydney next week. Called Autonomy and Deliberation, it was created in collaboration with filmmaker Johann Rashid and the press release modestly claims that it's "the most important film of 2012" (a big call considering cinematic masterpiece Step Up Revolution was also released this year).
Shot using a single camera and based on a script that was written in an afternoon, it follows the loose plot of UV Race vocalist Marcus Rechsteiner on a mission to reunite the band after losing their money at the dog races. Seems reasonable. It also features cameos from a wide array of (totally untrained) actors, members from Melbourne bands Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control, School of Radiant Living, Woollen Kits, Lost Animal, Circle Pit and Twerps (who we featured in our Music Issue).
Autonomy and Deliberation will screen on Thursday 8 November at 9pm at the Dendy Opera Quays (9/2 East Circular Quay). You can pick up tickets for $10 at Repressed Records in Newtown (or free with any UV Race release), and on the door for $12.
