The xx Announce New Album, 'Coexist'
"[We] hope to play somewhere near you soon."
We knew that a new xx album was in the works when we heard them play new songs last week, and now they've announced a release date. Coexist will be out in Australia on Friday September 7, the band announced via their Facebook.
"After a long time on the road, we took a break, created our own studio and wrote these new songs that we're so looking forward to playing to you. We will be touring throughout the summer and beyond, and hope to play somewhere near you soon. xx," they said.
Coexist follows on from their 2009 debut record, xx, and has been produced by band member Jamie Smith (otherwise known as Jamie xx). They started recording the new album in November last year in their own studio in London, and wrapped up production last month.
The xx are expected to play shows in North America, Europe and Japan later this year. Does that mean we can hope for an Australian show too?
