Watch: Alexander McQueen AW12 Film

Psychedelic data-moshing and visors in space.

Alexander McQueen have unveiled their campaign film for AW12 and it's epic — we're tempted to use multiple exclamation marks and/or wingdings. Aside from the devastatingly lush and futuristic garments, the video is full of that throwback 80's aesthetic that perfectly sums up the internet generation's zeigeist. The film, shot by British photographer David Sims (who also shot the label's still campaign), stars Finnish hottie Suvi Koponen as a retro-meets-space-age trippy goddess who knows how to rock a visor.

The film employed a technique (known and loved by both ravers and new media artists) called data-moshing, which involves splicing images together to create a video mash up. The effect is at once extra-terrestrial and old-school. Chair Lift (who we shot for issue #98) also used it to make their psychedelic and buzzy video for 'Evident Utensil' with impressive results.
 
So, back to those those metallic visors that were a hit on the catwalk — you can buy them on the Alexander McQueen online store for about 270 GBP. A good investment considering they'll still be fashionable in 200 years.
