Watch: Derek Blasberg Interviews Iris Apfel
They get their flirt on.
Just in time for New York Fashion Week, Fashion Editor and glamour-magnet, Derek Blasgerg sits down with none other than Iris Apfel. Only the coolest woman ever, Iris is perfectly unabashed when announcing how comfortable she is with her age — though few would believe that she has just turned 91. "I'm glad Im not young anymore" she confesses, to which Derek promptly responds "Save the botox money and spend it on a bracelet." Amen, Mr Blasberg! Have you seen her collection?! There are no words.
In the latest installment of L'Oreal's Hairspray Confessions video series, Iris is clearly chuffed by Derek's charm, being the really-really-good-looking guy that he is. "It's a great pleasure to have a handsome young fella come-a-calling with a cake and balloons. Mama mia!" she gushes in the interview. Though we're sorry to say, Derek, this bird of paradise is well and truly taken ("60/70 odd years" of wedded bliss was it, Iris?).
In between a little friendly flirtation — what can we say, the gal's still got it — Iris dishes about style, her trademark glasses, and the one thing she'd take with her if the house was burning down (60/70 years well spent, we say). "If I'm going to wear glasses, I'll wear glasses!", she says of those unmissable specs — a response that captures the icon's own style mantra: "More is more and less is a bore." Well, her mother may have "worshipped at the altar of the accessory", but we worship at the altar of Iris Apfel. Keep on giving us more Iris!
